Using fresh, local ingredients has always come first and foremost in my culinary and cooking adventures. I love stopping by a farm stand, growing my own ingredients and foraging for produce when it comes to my recipe creation. I aim to use fresh, healthy fruit and vegetables in fun and accessible ways on my blog The Sifted Field.


My Story….

I am a mostly self taught cook. My inspiration for creating this blog is to share my recipe creations with the world. Some of my favorite ingredients to work with are butter, fresh herbs, and seafood. I also love flaky sea salt and it is a staple on my dinner table. I think the uneven texture adds a bit of crunch and added saltiness when needed.

I have only worked in one professional kitchen as a short order cook and expeditor. Most of my experience in restaurants comes from the front of the house working as a server and bartender. Although I have long put that career behind me, I truly missed being immersed in food culture. This blog is a great outlet for my foodie chatter, ideas and continuing education when it comes to the Culinary Arts.

I started work in the Fine Arts with a specialization in Jewelry. Working with colorful, natural materials has always been my passion. When I left the jewelry industry, I pivoted back to my roots: food. Growing up in the Hudson Valley, NY, we always had a garden and yearly trips to strawberry patches and apple orchards are part of who I am. We even used to get our milk fresh from the dairy farm down the road. Nowadays I get my milk from a local dairy store, but the memories of trudging through the cow barn are as fresh as if it was yesterday. I love cooking with ingredients that are seasonably sourced and there is luckily an abundance of farms where I live.
