Stewed Black Plums with Star Anise and Ginger for Yogurt Bowls

These stewed black plums are cooked gently until soft and jammy, with a balanced sweet-tart flavor that’s perfect for yogurt bowls, granola, and make-ahead breakfasts.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 black plum
  • 1 tsp ginger minced
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 cloves star Anise whole
  • ½ cup water

Instructions
 

  • Slice plum in half and remove pit.
  • Roughly chop plums or slice into wedges.
  • Add plums, ginger and star anise in small saucepan.
  • Pour water to cover and add sugar.
  • Cook for 20 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the fruit is softened and the water has turned jammy, the stewed fruit is done.
  • Pour fruit over a bowl filled with yogurt and sprinkle with granola, or nuts.
