Oven Roasted Chestnuts with Buttery Cinnamon Topping

Ingredients
  

Oven Roasted Chestnuts

  • 1 Pound Chestnuts whole
  • Boiling Water to cover

Buttery Cinnamon Topping

  • 4 Tbsp Butter unsalted
  • 4 Tbsp Honey
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract or vanilla paste
  • ¼ tsp Ground Cinnamon

Instructions
 

Oven Roasting Your Chestnuts

  • Preheat oven to 400℉
  • Place chestnuts in bowl and cover with boiling water. let sit for at least 20 minutes.

  • Remove chestnuts from water and slice an x into the top of each chestnut with a pairing knife.

  • Place chestnuts, x side up in oven safe cast iron pan.
  • Roast nuts for 30-45 minutes or until the x opens up, remove from oven and serve hot.

Buttery Cinnamon Topping

  • Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.

  • Add honey and mix in with cinnamon and vanilla for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Drizzle buttery topping directly onto roasted chestnuts or serve in a small bowl on the side for dipping.
