    5 Reasons Nutrient Dense Rye Sourdough is a Great Sandwich Bread

    I love a good Rye Sourdough Bread Loaf. Below I’ve compiled a list of 5 reasons why you should definitely add Open Faced Sandwiches featuring Rye Bread as your go to your weekly lunchtime routine. Rye Bread is a great base ingredient to create amazing lunchtime Sandwiches!

    The texture of Whole Rye  Grain is thick and dense and stays fresh much longer than traditional wheat or white bread. It holds up to moist traditional lunch salads (shrimp, chicken, tuna) exceptionally well.

    I’ve included 2 of my favorite Rye Bread Lunch Recipes, featuring  classic Corned Beef and modern Tarragon Chicken Salad.

    1. A Healthy Lunch Option, Nutrient Filled Bread

    100% Sourdough Rye Bread is filled with nutrients.; Iron, Folate, Niacin to name a few. Studies have shown that Rye takes longer to digest due to the high amount of soluble fiber it contains, slowing digestion and making you feel fuller for a longer period of time. This process also helps regulate blood sugar levels due to slow ingestion of sugar. (No more break-room late afternoon cookie cravings!).  

    2.100% Rye is Filling and Budget Friendly

    A Home-Made 1000 Island Dressing

    A home made thousand island dressing is literally 1000 miles away taste wise from the store bought stuff, (sorry I had to!) I use fresh parsley, gherkin pickles and chili sauce to create my special sauce. The flavor from freshly chopped ingredients in a dressing simply can’t be beat and will elevate your sandwich from humdrum to lunchtime decadence rather quickly. A slice of swiss  placed on top and broiled for 3 minutes will make you the envy of the lunch table.

    A hearty slice of Rye Bread holds up nicely with fresh Tarragon Chicken Salad piled on top of it. A handful of fresh Arugula Greens finishes this simple lunch recipe nicely, creating a well rounded vitamin and nutrient rich mid day meal.
